In recent years, the progression of climate change has been advancing at a pace that exceeds scientific predictions. Record-breaking heatwaves surpassing 40°C have become frequent worldwide, continuously shattering historical observation records. The consequences extend beyond extreme weather, environmental degradation, and the extinction of flora and fauna; they are beginning to severely impact our health, food security, housing, safety, and lives. To address these risks, it is indispensable for society as a whole to flexibly adapt to ecological shifts and enhance its capacity to predict, prepare for, and respond to these challenges.

The "RES (Resilient, Ecological, Sustainable) Certification Mark System" promoted by the Eco Energy Group aims to enhance resilience (the capacity to respond to disasters and changes), ecological friendliness (environmental consideration), and sustainability within housing and local communities. This system is currently making advanced preparations in Switzerland and New Zealand, and was launched in earnest in Japan last year. The Eco Energy Group is collaborating with research institutions and experts in the UK and New Zealand to work on establishing standards for "RES" housing and community development.

Housing awarded the RES Certification Mark aims to serve as a benchmark for safety and security, as a residence that flexibly responds to risks such as climate and disasters, embodies environmental consideration, and allows people to live comfortably over the long term while minimizing maintenance effort.

The research requires approximately three years, after which the construction of test houses based on the standards is planned. No revenue is anticipated during the research and verification stage, and it is positioned as an "R&D (Research and Development)" period necessary for any new business. After advancing R&D in Japan, Europe, and New Zealand, commercialization and full-scale business expansion are envisioned, and the accumulated knowledge and know-how are planned to be developed as a licensing business in the future.

Furthermore, as a part of this initiative, we are actively working to mitigate climate change by restoring underutilized land into green spaces such as parks and forests, and by promoting the utilization of natural energy. Delivering safety and security to people's lives through the improvement of resilience is our most important mission.
